SYNOPSIS: It’s the tail end of the big, bad 1980s in Hollywood, and the party has been raging hard. Aqua Net, Lycra and Heavy Metal flow freely at one of the Sunset Strip's last legendary venues, a place where legendary rocker Stacee Jaxx takes the stage and groupies line up for their chance at an autograph. Amidst the madness, aspiring rock star Drew longs to take the stage as the next big thing and longs for small-town girl Sherri, fresh off the bus from Kansas with stars in her eyes. But the rock 'n' roll fairy tale is about to end when German developers sweep into town with plans to turn the fabled Strip into just another capitalist strip mall.
Rock of Ages: Teen Edition takes you back to the times of big bands with big egos playing big guitar solos and sporting even bigger hair! This Tony Award-nominated Broadway musical features the hits of bands including Night Ranger, REO Speedwagon, Bon Jovi, Styx, Whitesnake. Pat Benatar, Twisted Sister and others.
NOTE: There are significant storyline differences between the movie and ROA: Teen Edition which has been edited and revised for use in high schools.
What to expect during auditions: Audition materials will be available in early November on the website. Please look them over and be comfortable with them. We will run through the general audition music at the audition. Anyone selected for a callback will be given materials Friday, November 11th and should look over them in preparation for the callbacks that will be held on Tuesday, November 15th.
What to bring to auditions: A completed audition form with an attached headshot, your best pair of ripped jeans and big 80’s hair. The attitude of a rock star and a willingness to truly rock would be most helpful.
What if I play a fall sport: We should be in the clear, if the audition date and time conflicts with a fall sport commitment let us know, and we can figure something out.
What about the pit?
This show is considered a “rock pit.” We’ll have some of our cast-favorites return as well as new friends. We DO need a house/stage band to rock out with our pros. More details to come.
Is there a stage crew?
Heck yes! You get to rock too!
Will there be rehearsal over Winter Break? Winter break is a full two weeks and it is most likely that leads will be asked to come in for a day or two. This will be dependent on the schedules of both the directors and the casts.
Will there be rehearsals on Saturdays in January? Yes, there will be some Satruday in January where the cast will need to come in. Those commitments would be done by 2:00 so you would be able to plan ahead for work or family needs.
What if I plan to audition for WSMA Honors Ensembles?
Please sign up for Saturday, February 4th. We will work with WSMA to create a schedule that the production can accommodate.

What to expect during auditions: For this production all music needed for the audition wil be taught to you at the audition. (It wouldn’t hurt to listen to the show a time or two prior)
What to bring to auditions: Completed audition form and conflicts for the run of the show.
What about the pit?
This show will be produced a la Godspell, and we will be using their professional recording tracks. The benefit to this is that the cast will have access to the same rehearsal tracks at home!
Is there a stage crew?
For sure!
Will there be rehearsal over Spring Break? There is a possibility that there will be rehearsal, but that will be decided after the show is cast. This would only be for lead characters.
Will there be rehearsals on Saturdays? There will most likely be rehearsals on Saturdays but they would not go later than 2:00 so that you can plan ahead for work or family needs. This will be dependent on casting and the directors availability.
